Happy was conceived in Germany – a mating organised by Oakridge Kennels in SA. They had chosen a sire whose pictures I very much admired, and bloodlines that the Madlage kennel in Germany had also used. (See the link to our previous German import Pace von der Madlage).

After the mating, Happy’s mother, Nora” came out to live in South Australia with Oakridge. So I did the trip to SA and picked her up when she was 8 weeks old.

We love Happy for her laid back attitude to life, she takes everything in her stride. She loves everybody, not at all shy, but very cuddly and affectionate. Energetic is a good word to describe Happy, but only when she has good reason to be; a little bit lazy is a better description at other times. As a puppy, she was a bit clumsy, too. She injured her wrist, so we have been unable to train for agility. It did not stop her hooning around our dam, but we feel that the repetitive jumping needed for agility would not be good for the type of injury that occurred. She has recently, with her new handler, just started training for competition in other dog sports, but a bit more about that later in her history.

Happy has given us 3 beautiful litters: the Happi litter, the Kloud litter and the Icehouse litter.

Happy now resides with a new family, living the life of a spoilt dog. Di Hollett was so much missing her old boy Fenrik Trump Card (who can be found in our ” Fenrik achievers” page) and she did not feel a new pup was appropriate. I knew that Happy would be just the right fit for Di, because she was no loner a crazy puppy. Equally Di would be just right for Happy – she would get so much attention, with rally-o and scent work training, frequent outings with all her doggy friends and she does not have to share her human with six other canine cuddle competitors.

Di and Happy are doing very well with their rally training, and even better with her scent work training. She has started trialling and already has her novice title (her SWN).

Happy will still be spending time with us – mainly for maternal duties. I do miss her and love her over enthusiastic greeting when we meet. But I am sure she prefers her new life.
