The scene was set for a peaceful whelping of puppies. All was prepared and mother was settled . . . then the water main just outside our house broke. It was a gusher and we soon had a river running up our driveway. The water maintenance crew pulled up outside our place soon after dark with orange lights flashing in through the front windows and that was about when the first puppy was born. Luckily, it did not phase Rumble at all. Everything went very routinely. The choice was obvious when we had to choose a name theme – it was “River”.
